Hi! My name is Monica D. Franklin and I am Del Rey's Area F Director!
Originally a Jersey gal, I have been lucky to live in great cities like New York and Boston but have found my Home in Del Rey and greater Los Angeles. Del Rey is an amazing place to live and work; we have great people, schools and businesses. We're near the beach, world-class museums and remarkable nature. But we also know we have work to do; housing affordability and homelessness are at crisis levels, traffic levels are unsustainable and connection to safe bike lanes and quality mass transit is very limited. I ran for Area F Director to in a small way, be part of the solution and move the ball forward. I am also an architect and mother that lives with my husband, son, mother and Basset Hound, Lola Rae.
I hope to use my professional skills on the Land Use committee to help our community speak louder in forums concerned with forthcoming development. Development can keep our community affordable and welcoming while also facilitating investment in community amenities like our parks, bike paths and traffic safety measures.
I am looking forward to serving with this talented, dedicated board and continuing to make Del Rey the best neighborhood in LA!
